Crewing at Scout Mountain Ultras

Crew access is one of the most challenging aspects of the race and our permit process. We understand the community aspect of crewing at ultras and will attempt to accommodate you. Crews must drive slowly and with caution, mountain roads are dangerous and will be crowded due to the race and other users. Crews disobeying the law or disrespectful to others will be asked to leave and their runner disqualified.

Crew vehicle tags:

  • 100M and 50M runners will be given a crew access tag, one per runner, that must be displayed on the dash of the crew vehicle.

  • If a runner is crewed by a non-permitted vehicle, they are subject to disqualification. Crewing is not permitted for the 50K or 24M races but accommodations can be made if necessary; please speak to race management if you need an exception. Most of the race is on remote trails that are difficult or impossible to access in a car.

100M crew can see runners at the following aid stations ONLY:

  • Goodenough Creek. Crews must park at the additional parking at the entrance to the campground and walk in. It is less than 1/2 mile.

  • South Fork Road. Vehicle permits are required. They are dispensed at check-in to each runner. One vehicle and crew member per runner is allowed (plus one pacer if a pacer is starting here).

  • West Fork. NO PARKING FOR CREW. All crew must park at either Crystal Summit or Century High School and ride the shuttle to the aid station. There will be attendants at those two parking lots and they will release crew to board the shuttle only after your runner has reached South Fork Road aid station.

  • Gibson Jack (47.8). There is a large parking lot here, please do not block in other runners and use caution on the dirt road. Yield to runners as they enter and exit the aid station.

  • City Creek. Their are two ‘City Creek’ trailheads. The aid station is at the Upper City Creek trailhead. Crew may park in the lot at the end of the street and walk the short distance to the aid station (less than 0.25 mile).

  • Scout. Vehicle permits are required. They are dispensed at check-in to each runner. One vehicle and crew member per runner is allowed (plus one pacer if a pacer is starting here). There is very limited parking here. Please consider skipping this one unless a pacer is joining the 100M runner.

50M crew can see runners at the following aid stations ONLY:

  • West Fork. NO PARKING FOR CREW. All crew must park at either Crystal Summit or Century High School and ride the shuttle to the aid station. There will be attendants at those two parking lots and they will release crew to board the shuttle only after your runner has reached South Fork Road aid station.

GPS Locations of crew-allowed LOTS

CELL SERVICE is highly unlikely at the Mink Creek Group Site (finish area) and West Fork AS - be prepared for that blackout section.

Never drive to the finish area. Each runner is allowed one tag for a crew vehicle. The tag is available at race check-in. A tag is required at all aid stations where crew are allowed. See the aid station chart and notes for additional requirements at each aid station.

Crew is only allowed for the 100M and 50M races; crew is not allowed for the 50K or 24M races.
